Hello and welcome to Dogs About Town professional pet services.
I offer dog walking, pet visiting and pet taxi services in Woodplumpton, Cottam, Ingol, Bartle and the surrounding areas of Preston. As our lives get busier, sometimes the guilt starts to creep in that we cannot give our pets the time and attention that we would like and they deserve. This is where I come in. I will walk your dog, visit your pets at home and spend time with them during the day or whisk them off to their all important vet or grooming appointments (especially if you would like to save that half days holiday to do something fun with them). I can care for caged animals and cats while you are away on holiday as well.
Photographs and videos of our adventures will regularly be posted here on my website and Facebook page and on returning your pooch home I can send you some photo's via WhatsApp once I am within range of usable wifi.
Your pets will be shown the same love, care and affection as my own and we will all have a great time
I am DBS checked, fully insured and hold a pet first aid certificate.
Opening hours are 8am-6pm Mon-Fri.
Special arrangements outside of these hours are available on request.
£10 per hour between 11am-2pm
£6 for any additional dog from the same household
£7.50 per hour 8am-11am and 2pm-6pm
£4.50 for any additional dog from the same household
The time for walks starts from when we arrive at our walking destination and not at the time of pick up, so your furry family member will have at least an hour of exercise.
Doggy's paws will be towel cleaned before returning home.
Half hour walks are available on request for our smaller (or more mature) friends.
We only use bio-degradable poo bags.
We only walk a maximum of 4 dogs at anytime.
£10 for a half hour home visit where you can choose what you need me to do from:
Spot clean litter tray or cage (ie clean any fresh waste)
Completely clean litter tray or cage (complete cage cleans are chargeable at a minimum of £15 dependent on size)
£10 per pick up and 50p per mile traveled (mileage agreed beforehand). If your pet needs dropping off and then picking up later in the day then this is classed as 2 pickups. If I have to wait then waiting time is charged at 15 minute intervals (£2.50 for every 15 minutes).
How Did We Get Here?
18 months ago we decided to get a dog. We had always been dog lovers but, due to us both working full time, we didn't have our own dog as we did not like the idea of it being at home alone all day, every day. My wife had recently changed jobs so she could come home at lunchtime and spend some time with it.
My wife and I had both grown up with Staffy's and knew they were a lovely breed of dog despite the bad press they receive so we decided this was the breed we wanted. We tried a couple of the dog rescue homes in Preston but sadly could not find one suitable (some of them had been so badly mistreated that they needed constant care and attention, it was heart breaking). One day, while having a look on the internet I came across Wolfwood in Lancaster and their Wolfwood Staffy Gang. The staff listened to what we were looking for and took into account our situation and suggested we take two of their current residents (Rosie and Flynn) for a walk to see how we get on. A couple of weeks later after various visits and trial home visits we adopted Rosie and brought her home (we would have taken Flynn as well but Wolfwood quite rightly said to take one first and see how we get on). I now volunteer at Wolfwood helping with the walks and it is tremendous fun!
At this point I will hand over to the Wolfwood staff so they can tell you what they are all about:
Wolfwood Rescue - Established ten years ago, we are a local independent charity dedicated and passionate about our work. Wolfwood is a centre for injured, displaced and wildlife casualties. We receive them from our local vets, RSPCA Officers, members of the public and provide our own recovery service. We give all care, treatment and rehabilitation before releasing them back into their natural habitat. Wolfwood is also a centre for rescue, stray and unwanted dogs, as well as those who for whatever reason cannot stay in their own home. All aspects of their health and welfare are covered while waiting for their new loving home. Our rescue horses & ponies are kept until they are fully recovered and then offered as companions. We provide placements for various community groups and colleges. Our work relies on the income from our three charity shops, fantastic volunteers and supporters, donations and fundraising.
Please, if you are thinking of getting a dog, seriously consider a rescue. A lot of these dogs are there through no fault of their own (broken families) and have a lot of love to give.
Here are some photo's and video's of some of our most recent adventures, please get in touch if you have a canine chum that would love to join in.
